There’s kid’s going hungry in a holler over there.
People on the highway don’t seem to care
IN Kindergarten we all learn to share
There’s kid’s going hungry in a holler over there
Their cooking up crystal in a holler over there
Cops by the highway don’t seem to care
Their writing tickets, I can smell it in the air
Their cooking up crystal in a holler over there
There’s a farmer going under in a holler over there
Prices at market are no longer fair
Finding food that ain’t corporate is getting awful rare
There’s a farmer going under in a a holler over there
We’ll keep on singing in a holler over there
We’re hanging on by a thread and a prayer
It don’t much matter if anyone cares
We’ll keep on singing in a holler over there

Brilliant album with such a beautiful atmosphere. And it gets even more intense live. I had the wonderful chance to see Sylvaine in Marseille and it was a blast. Zanghief

The best I've heard from Steve Earle in a while. The songs have a subtler, earthier tone, tastefully rendered in authentic sounding country/blues/bluegrass stylings. 'J.T' reminds of earlier records like 'Feel Alright' or 'Train a Comin'.
Deep grief, love and compassion is felt on the final track, the only composition from Steve, seemingly written for his son. The rest, composed by JT, do confirm what a great songwriter he really was. tideracer
